Living in Hollywood
Hollywood sits between Dania Beach and Hallandale Beach in south Broward County, about halfway between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Its beach is a narrow barrier island between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Broadwalk, a paved promenade, runs along the sand from Sherman Street north to North Beach Park.
Ocean Drive (State Road A1A) carries the oceanfront towers, with the newest high-rises near the Diplomat resort at the south end. Hollywood Boulevard links the beach to downtown across the Intracoastal. It passes Young Circle ArtsPark, the round park at the center of the original 1920s city plan.
Downtown is a low-rise grid around Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street. The Tri-Rail station on Hollywood Boulevard connects to Miami and West Palm Beach. The new pipeline splits between oceanfront towers on South Ocean Drive and high-rise buildings downtown, around Young Circle and Federal Highway.
